Committed to Christ, His Church, and His Commission
We're glad you're interested in learning more about what God is doing here at Goshen Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). We are the oldest congregation in Gaston County, North Carolina, with a rich and unique history. Our goal is to carry on the heritage of gospel proclamation and service that God has so richly blessed us with as we continue reaching new generations for Jesus Christ.
Our History
God brought life out of death when a frontier funeral in the wilds of North Carolina in the 1760's led to the founding of a new congregation. Goshen Presbyterian Church has been a constant witness to Jesus Christ in the North Belmont community since that time through worship, preaching, and community outreach. Although the congregation has always remained within one mile of the cemetery which was her first home, Goshen has raised up pastors and planted congregations which have had an impact throughout the world for Christ.

Live Sermons

Goshen Ministries
Sunday School
Sunday School begins at 9:45am. We offer classes for all ages from nursery to adults. Our classes serve not only as places of instruction but as communities which help us connect to the church. Each adult class spends time in prayer for each other before the lesson begins. Every Sunday School class focuses on Scripture, seeking to apply the word of God to our lives today for His glory.

Sunday Worship Services
Worship at Goshen is focused on God's glory as it is displayed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. In our morning service, the message from Scripture is the foundation for the call to worship, prayers, and music. The service begins with a time of praise, confession, and commitment before moving into a time of response in giving our offering to God and hearing His word proclaimed.
Wednesday
Night Bible Study
While Sunday messages move us through whole books of the Bible, Wednesday night studies are focused on topics of interest to the believer. These range widely from in-depth theological studies to consideration of contemporary issues facing the church. Each study opens with singing and prayer for the concerns in the congregation.
Goshen Women's Ministries
As has been the case since the days of Israel, women play a key role in the work of Goshen Presbyterian Church. They host Bible studies for the women that meet the Tuesday following the first Sunday in the month. The women host and support various regular outreach and ministry events that impact our community, such as Operation Christmas Child and our annual Attic Sale. Any woman attending Goshen is welcome to join our Women!

What's the Difference?
The PCA and the PCUSA
There is some confusion between the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), of which Goshen Presbyterian Church is a part, and The Presbyterian Church in the United States of America (PCUSA). This page hopes to clear up some of the differences. It is hoped that new visitors to our site and congregation will find this information helpful.
As a denomination the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) remains committed to Scripture as the inspired word of God, inerrant in the originals and fully trustworthy in our modern editions that are faithful to the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic.
